This is a quick list for those fitness centers out there that need a little boost of creativity. Maybe you're looking for some new ideas this holiday season, or really want to amp up the holiday spirit for your members. Whatever the reason, here's a brain dump of ways to attract potential members and keep those veteran members coming through the door, these busy upcoming months.

Decor & Atmosphere

  • This one is a no-brainer: Add festive decorations in the lobby and workout areas (garlands, lights, wreaths, or themed banners).

  • Set up a holiday photo wall or selfie station for members.

  • Play upbeat holiday music during certain classes or songs, or just in your lobby. Members love this!

  • Use scented diffusers with seasonal aromas like peppermint or cinnamon.

Classes & Challenges

  • Host a “12 Days of Fitness” challenge with daily mini-goals or workouts.

  • Offer themed group classes (e.g., Sweat with Santa, Jingle Bell Bootcamp, Elf Yoga Flow).

  • Create a “Maintain, Don’t Gain” challenge to keep members motivated through the season.

  • Encourage friendly team competitions with prizes or bragging rights.

Member Engagement & Giveaways

  • Run a small holiday giveaway or raffle (entry for every visit in December).

  • Offer a holiday referral special—bring a friend, get a reward.

  • Hand out small tokens like candy canes, protein bar samples, or branded ornaments.

  • Feature a “member gratitude week” with hot cocoa, healthy snacks, or free guest passes.

Community & Charity

  • Organize a holiday donation drive (toys, coats, or food).

  • Host a charity workout event where guest entry fees or donations go to a local cause.

  • Encourage members to share their “fitness gratitude” or goals for the new year on a community board.
