If you’re trying to capture the perfect moment—whether it’s a product shot, team photo, or action shot—burst mode on your iPhone is a simple tool that can make a big difference.

What is Burst Mode?

Burst mode takes a rapid series of photos all at once, giving you multiple shots to choose from instead of relying on just one. It’s especially helpful when there’s movement or you want options.

How to Take a Burst Photo

It’s quick and easy:

Option 1: Swipe Method (most common)

  1. Open your Camera app

  2. Make sure you’re in “Photo” mode

  3. Press the shutter button, then slide your finger to the left (if you press and hold too long it starts a video)

  4. Keep holding to the left to capture a burst of photos

  5. Release when you’re done

Option 2: Volume Button (we think this is a bit easier)

  1. Go to Settings > Camera

  2. Turn on “Use Volume Up for Burst”

  3. Go back to your Camera app

  4. Make sure you're in "Photo" mode

  5. Hold down the volume up button to take a burst

How to Pick the Best Shot

  1. Open the Photos app

  2. Find your burst (it will say “Burst” on it)

  3. Tap Select

  4. Scroll through and choose your favorite(s)

  5. Tap Done and save only the ones you want

Why Your Business Should Use Burst Mode

  • Capture movement: Great for action shots, events, or behind-the-scenes content

  • Get natural photos: People blink, move, and shift—burst helps you catch the best expression

  • Save time: No need to retake multiple photos—just pick the best from one burst

Pro Tip

Use burst mode when photographing:

  • Team members laughing or interacting

  • Kids at events

  • Before-and-after reveals

  • Outdoor shots with wind or motion

A quick burst can turn an “okay” photo into a scroll-stopping one—perfect for social media, websites, and marketing. If you're still having trouble figuring this feature out, give us a shout and we can walk you through it. It's a GREAT way to get just the pic you want when people are in motion!
